On my old laptop, mysteriously sometimes the screen won't turn on, and this after a Windows or graphics card driver update. I have a second large screen connected to the laptop, which fortunately allows me to continue working. The only small problem is that some program windows, which I'd fixed on the faulty screen, don't display - they're stuck on the recalcitrant screen. To move them to the main screen, which fortunately works, here's the method I use.
I should point out that the screen isn't really faulty, because following an update, the screen mysteriously comes back on. I should also point out that I'm using an Insider Preview version of Windows 11. This may explain the problem. If anyone has any other clues, I'd love to hear from you.
Please note! For this to work, Extend mode must be activated.
To activate the Extend mode, press Windows + P. Select "Extend" by clicking or using the arrow keys and Enter.
Move windows using keyboard shortcuts
Windows includes practical keyboard shortcuts that can instantly move a window to another screen without the need for a mouse.
If you want to move a window to a display to the left of your current one, press Windows + Shift + Left Arrow.
If you wish to move a window to a display to the right of your current one, press Windows + Shift + Right Arrow.
