A very successful post on libellules.ch talked about the problem of iPhones that suddenly stop lighting up. I think it prevented a lot of suicides according to the 450 comments it generated. I suggest you go and read them, it's fun 🤪😉
I don't know if it's still current, but I'm republishing it here, with screenshots that unfortunately date back to 2008, I think.
I don't know, but something tells me this might still be a thing!
Here's the post as it was published at the time.
Today, I was confronted with a bizarre failure of a colleague's iPhone.
His iPhone suddenly shut down. Total black screen. Impossible to turn it back on. At first, we thought it was a battery failure and tried to recharge it, but nothing happened. My colleague decides to call his supplier's support team, who give him the procedure for restoring the situation to normal.
Before I forget what to do, here's the procedure. Maybe you'll find it useful one day!
Simultaneously press the On/Off button and the main button (see image below) for at least 120 seconds until the Apple logo appears.
Do not release the power and main buttons until the Apple logo appears.
This appears and disappears. Press the Power/Standby button again and the Apple logo should reappear.
Repeat this operation until the system download progress bar appears and your iPhone regains all its colors.
It looks a lot like a reset, but in this afternoon's case, my colleague hasn't lost any of his data (photos, contacts, music, etc.).
Kind regards. Krigou 😎
