Please note! You may not have this feature yet. The new tool is available to users in the Dev and Canary channels of the Windows 11 Insider Preview program. Available in Microsoft Paint version 11.2306.30.0.
If you're an elected official, you'll notice a new button in the toolbar, right next to the selection tool. This is the Background Removal tool. Paste an image or open a photo that has a background, then click on the "Remove Background" button. Paint will automatically remove the background from the image, leaving the subject in the foreground.
There's another way to use the tool: you can open an image and use the rectangle selection tool to mark a specific area of the image. Click on the "Remove background" button and the application will remove the background from the selected part of the media.
The tool isn't perfect, as it leaves imperfections in areas with a white background or in parts of the subject masked by other objects. Although the results are not as good as those obtained with a professional image editor, Microsoft Paint has done a good job. A decent, free tool that requires no editing skills.
The option will be introduced shortly in standard versions of Windows 11.
On the other hand, Microsoft is said to be working on integrating AI-enhanced functions into Paint, such as an AI-powered image generator. Stay tuned !
