If you're bored by the dozens of shortcuts cluttering up your desktop at any one time and still want to be able to launch them with a single click, then Portable PStart is an interesting application that should solve your problem.
Portable PStart works in exactly the same way as the Start menu: all you have to do is create links to your applications or folders, and arrange them in groups if required.
Once you've created your menu, you can minimize the Portable PStart window in the notification bar and access your applications with a simple click on the software icon. There's also an option for creating notes and assigning them different colors.
The application has a simple interface where you can add several shortcuts to the list. To make an entry, simply browse the computer for executable or other files.
Once the item has been selected, you can modify several fields, including name, application path, command line parameters, home directory and description. Several formatting options are available in the lower part of the frame.
It is also possible to replace the icon and website linked to the application. Certain auto-run rules can also be defined. For example, the program can be launched at system start-up. Portable PStart also features a search tool to help you locate the items you wish to launch.
Personal notes can also be added.
As the application is entirely portable, it doesn't need to be installed on the computer and can be launched from removable devices, such as flash drives. What's more, it should leave no traces in the Windows registry.
