At a time when thefts, scams and the like seem to be on the increase, here's a program called Prey that might interest you.
Prey is computer security software that allows users to locate, lock, erase and monitor their lost or stolen devices. Available for Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android.
When a device is lost or stolen, the owner can use the Prey console to locate it on a map. They can also lock the device, delete its data or attempt to take a photo of the current user. Prey can also be used to collect information on the device, such as its location, IP address and installed applications.
If you're looking for a computer security tool that can help you protect your devices against loss and theft, Prey looks like an interesting option. I say this because I've tested it briefly and I still don't know what I've done wrong. It locates my laptop about 30 km away, even though it's right in front of me! On the other hand, the location for my smartphone is OK.
